About Diagnostic Imaging Consultations
Veterinary teleradiology is
the transmission of a pet’s diagnostic images (radiographs,
ultrasounds, contrast studies, CT, and MRI) for the purpose of
consulting with a Board Certified Veterinary Radiologist. The
complex nature of many veterinary disease processes can require
the use of multiple or specialized imaging studies which warrants
a radiologist’s knowledge and experience. Telemedicine improves
the pet’s medical care by allowing a radiologist to remotely
provide services without actually having to be at the location of
the pet. Veterinarians from across the country request
consultations through our telemedicine service. Our radiologists
consult on and interpret hundreds of imaging studies from
veterinarians wanting to team with specialists to provide a more
thorough diagnostic and treatment plan for their patients. Our
radiologists seek recommendations from our in-house cardiologist,
internists, oncologists, surgeons, and criticalists to devise an
individualized treatment plan for each pet. Referring
veterinarians can also contact our radiologists by telephone to
discuss cases and referrals to our hospital. This puts
GCVTelemedicine on the cutting edge of remote health care
delivery. GCVTelemedicine also provides access for our referring
veterinarians to diagnostic imaging consultations from a
multi-disciplinary specialist hospital.

FAQ
Q: The radiologist recommended a barium series after I submitted routine radiographs. Will I be charged for the contrast study in addition to the routine radiographs?
A: Yes. A contrast study and a radiograph study are two different modalities.
Q: Does GCVTelemedicine offer 24/7 service?
A: Not at this time. Our hours of operation are from 8am to 6pm CST, 7 days a week including holidays. This does not preclude you from submitting cases 24/7.
Q: How do I attach radiographs after I have already submitted the request ?
A: You may resubmit the request with the full details filled in and attach the images. It is important to include the patients’ medical history on the corrected case so that the final report is complete for a medical record; thus, your previous submission will be deleted. You may also email the images to [email protected] and let our staff know that the images were intended for the patient’s request. Our staff will see to it that the images get to the correct location.
Q: I just got digital radiography for my clinic. How do I get set up to send the images?
A: When the images are ready to be sent, contact our technical support team: 713.579.2568. They will be able to remotely assist you in setting up your system, or will walk through the account set up on our website.
